What is the Foundry?

The Foundry is the Innovation Foundation’s mechanism for sharing our Scan - Build - Scale methodology with people working on real social challenges. It equips participants to apply our tools and approaches in their own contexts and, where relevant, to collaborate with us on live projects. You’ll work with data and lived experience to grapple with real-world complexity, strengthen your practice, and connect with a global community doing this work for real.

Who is this for?

The Foundry is for people with experience in human-centred work who want to deepen how they operate in complex, uncertain systems. If you’re motivated by shaping solutions that have to work in the real world - not just look good on paper - this programme helps you refine your judgement, expand your toolkit, and strengthen how you work with complexity.

Why this programme exists

Unlike traditional design trainings, the Foundry is grounded in real systems, real evidence, and real challenges. Learning happens through practice, not theory alone. You apply Scan - Build - Scale to live questions, guided by Innovation Foundation practitioners, and build capability through work that is tested against real-world conditions rather than hypothetical cases.
