Today’s workers face a number of challenges that have grown in significance due to shifts that began with, or were accelerated by, Covid-19. That’s one finding from our extensive research, The Global Workforce of the Future 2022, in which we surveyed 34,200 respondents (both desk- and non-desk-based workers) across 25 countries.

As the world attempts to step out of the pandemic’s shadow, it’s important that leaders study how working practices, behaviours and attitudes continue to evolve—and to uncover new insights on what the future world of work can and should look like for all workers, including those who are not at desks. #2. Taking time off? For many, it means getting promoted down the line.


Far too many people limit their happiness and success by not taking time off work. There’s a prevailing thought: taking time off sends a negative message to their manager…and it will ultimately slow career advancement. But new research shows the exact opposite is true. #3.  Apple CEO Tim Cook: There’s “no good excuse” for the lack of women in tech.


Apple CEO Tim Cook says there’s “no good excuse” for the lack of women in tech. In an exclusive interview with the BBC, Cook said that there are still “not enough women at the table” at some of the world’s largest tech firms – including Apple. Last year, Apple reporter 35% female staff in the U.S. Cook argued that companies can’t achieve their full potential without a diverse workforce. Read more here.

#4. OECD: Europe is on the verge of a recession.


This week, the OECD warned that Europe is on the verge of a recession that could slow down global growth. However, not all countries are doom and gloom. The Financial Times points out the world’s seven economic wonders, or, countries with strong growth, milder inflation, or decent stock market returns. #5.  “I felt I had no choice.” Workers rush to second jobs.


Jude Harford would rather not have taken a second job, especially because she has young children. But with the cost of living and soaring expenses, Harford had to take a second job to boost her income. "Everything is ridiculously expensive right now," the mum-of-two from Poole told the BBC. "We need the extra money." Research seen by the BBC suggests millions of people have been forced to take on second jobs to cope with rising costs of living. Read more at the BBC.
